The High Voltage Group is a professional network under buildingSMART Norway that brings together stakeholders from the energy sector to explore and develop common guidelines for the digitalisation of the high voltage network based on open standards and openBIM. The group was established in December 2025 in collaboration between Statnett and buildingSMART Norway. At the inaugural meeting, participants identified key challenges, needs, and possible approaches for more holistic and standardised digital information about the high voltage network. 

The High Voltage Group will help establish a common understanding of how digital information about the high voltage network can be structured, exchanged, and managed in a secure and efficient manner throughout the entire lifecycle of the facility, from planning and design to construction, handover, operation, and further development. 

The work will be based on open BIM standards and relevant IFC development for infrastructure.
