3.0 Collection of personal data
buildingSMART Norway is a membership association and interest organization for all actors in the construction, engineering, and real estate industries.
4.0 Personal data, purpose and further processing
buildingSMART primarily processes information at the organizational level about our members that is provided to us upon registration or by updating web forms, as well as information we have received in connection with participation in events, meetings, and electronic communication. Additionally, information about individual users will be stored and recorded during visits to our websites and used to develop and improve them.
4.1 Membership register – follow-up of membership
buildingSMART maintains a register of our member organizations.
The membership register contains the following information:
Business name
Type of business
Information about membership (registration – cancellation)
Contact person (Name and email address)
Billing information and payment history
The purpose of this is to manage the role as a membership association, engage in dialogue with our members, follow up on financial obligations, and further develop our organization.
4.2 Contact information – communication and information
buildingSMART has email lists where we send relevant information to stakeholders in the industry and other interested parties who have registered as recipients of newsletters. Recipients of newsletters will always have the option to unsubscribe from the newsletter and will no longer receive it.
4.3 Other information collected through communication and dialogue
buildingSMART Norway has ongoing dialogue and collaboration with industry stakeholders through various activities in the network and email communication. The information collected here is primarily at the organizational level, but personal data such as name, employer, email address, and phone number may occur.
The purpose of this is to provide follow-up for each individual organization, whether it is a registered member or another interested party.
There is no systematic logging or recording of this type of information.
4.4 Technical data when using our websites
buildingsmart.no registers and logs traffic on our websites. Such web statistics will be used to analyze use and improve our services. Additionally, our websites use cookies to enhance your user experience.
4.5 Data registered electronically by the user
buildingSMART occasionally uses web forms to collect personal data. This may be in connection with participation in meetings, seminars, and other events. This information is provided by the user, and we typically only ask for the name, email address, and associated business. This information is stored as long as it is purposeful.
We may use registration data for analysis to improve our services. These will not be linked to personal data, only at the organizational level.

We do not collect sensitive data.
6.0 Sharing of data
To perform our services and manage the organization responsibly, we share information with other parties. This applies to invoicing and follow-up of membership, management, and operation of our websites.
buildingSMART also has profiles on social platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Slack. The processing of the data the user chooses to share there is between the user and the social platform. buildingSMART is not responsible for this.
7.0 Legal basis
Our legal basis for processing personal data is to fulfill agreements under GDPR § 6 letter b and interest balancing under GDPR § 6 letter f. It is necessary for us to use the aforementioned personal data:
To carry out our role as a membership organization for our members
To assist our members with a range of different services
To provide necessary information to our members
To carry out necessary work related to financial transactions and membership fees
8.0 Access, deletion, and correction of data
buildingSMART Norway will routinely maintain our membership register and delete data that is no longer purpose-serving to retain. This primarily applies when membership changes or details related to the membership change, such as changes in contact information or billing information.
You have the right to access the data we have recorded about you at any time. If you wish to access, delete, or modify the data we have recorded about you, for example, when changes occur in your membership with the associated organization or your engagement with buildingSMART changes, please contact buildingSMART Norway at administrasjonen@buildingsmart.no.
